Services and Financial Commitment

  • Individual Therapy & Coaching

Therapy typically focuses on mental health and emotional healing and is most useful when you want to shore up your emotional health and coping skills. We will talk through your struggles, remember your strengths, and find strategies to cope with transitions, loss, depression, anxiety, stress, burnout, or any other concerns you bring. Whether you are a family caregiver, a physician or other helping professional, or have been challenged by serious illness or grief and loss, therapy can support you as you process emotions and learn new ways of coping with stress.

Coaching is useful for helping you to focus on specific goals, such as changing unhelpful habits, deciding about your next steps in life, and generally getting “unstuck” from old patterns that keep you from achieving your goals. If you want to explore an important life change or difficult decision or want better strategies to function as a physician, family caregiver, or other helping professional, coaching can work for you.

    50-minute session: $150

  • Couples & Family Sessions

Occasionally, as part of individual therapy we may decide together that it would be helpful to have another member of your family attend one or more sessions with you. These meetings are opportunities to improve communication and get expert help with having serious conversations.

These sessions may also be used if you need assistance sharing information with your partner or another member of your family. This can be especially helpful if you are making decisions about how to manage a serious medical diagnosis, caregiving responsibilities, or big life change. I am available to assist with family meetings for the purposes of information-sharing, decision-making, or care planning.

  • Group Therapy & Group Processing

I will periodically offer the opportunity for clients to participate in group therapy. Benefits of this type of therapy include: decreased isolation, empathy-building, skill-building, and increased ability to notice one’s patterns in interacting with others.

If your company or group is coping with a significant instance of grief and loss (such as following the death of a colleague or patient), burnout, moral distress, or moral injury, contact me to schedule a group session to assist with processing experiences and emotions and making a plan for the future.

Corporate hourly rates available on request.

Insurance and Meeting Options

  • In-Person Services

I offer in-person services in my office at Whitemarsh Learning Center in Fort Washington, PA. On the grounds of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, the office has ample, free parking and is accessible.

I am fully vaccinated. However, if you prefer to wear a mask during in-person visits, I will gladly honor your request. The St. Thomas’ grounds also provide ample opportunity for meeting privately outdoors should you prefer to meet outside, weather permitting.

  • Online Services

If your comfort level, location, or schedule makes meeting in-person difficult, we can meet online via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video connection. Participate in therapy, coaching, or supervision with me from anywhere in Pennsylvania.

Prior to our first meeting, I will email you a link to your virtual “waiting room.” A few minutes prior to each session, you will clink on this link and wait until I begin the session. No need to download any programs - just click on a link to start.

Note: I am a registered telehealth provider with the state of Florida and may also provide teletherapy services for you if you reside in that state.

  • Insurance

I do not participate with any insurance panels and am considered an out-of-network provider. Although I am sensitive to the cost issues this creates for some, leaving insurance out of the equation increases your privacy and our flexibility for the terms of your therapy. Without insurance involvement, there typically is no need to disclose a diagnosis or even the fact that you are receiving therapy.

If your plan covers out-of-network outpatient mental health services, individuals may be able to get a portion of session costs covered. I am happy to provide you a detailed bill to submit to your insurance company so that you can request reimbursement if you so choose. Please discuss this with your insurance company in advance as you are responsible for payment even if the insurance company does not reimburse you.

Regardless of whether you aim for insurance reimbursement, you may opt to use your Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flex Spending Account (FSA) to pay for therapy if those funds are available.

  • No Surprises Act/Good Faith Estimate

Under a federal law enacted on January 1, 2022, clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services, including psychotherapy and related costs.

You have the right to request a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

What’s the Difference Between Therapy and Coaching?

Therapy typically focuses on mental health and emotional healing and is most useful when you want to shore up your emotional health and coping skills. For instance, if you are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, moral injury, or interpersonal relationship issues, therapy is for you.

Coaching is useful for helping you to achieve specific goals, such as changing unhelpful habits, deciding about your next steps in life, and generally getting “unstuck” from old patterns that keep you from achieving your goals. Be aware that if you request coaching, some elements of therapy may still be most appropriate to help you move forward.
